Old Testament I

Exodus 24

In the Old Testament we see the demarcation between the children of Israelites and God. They didn’t have direct access to God. Moses was their intermediary, but thank God for Jesus Christ; for coming to grant us direct access to God individually. You don’t need to climb mountains before you talk to God. In the comfort of your room you can talk to God in prayer and He will answer you. Jesus is our mediator. We have direct access to God. The Mediator speaks on our behalf to process our request. We make our request in Jesus’ name.

(And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. -John 14:13)

For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth,  and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:9-11.)

Jesus our Mediator fights for us when the accuser of brethren accuses us. Jesus our Mediator also pleads for us when we go astray.

Moses only interceded for the Israelite when God told him He wants to punish the Israelite for their disobedience, but Jesus intercedes on our behalf before God even decides to punish us for our disobedience.

(Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. Romans 8:34)

Jesus doesn’t need God to tell Him anything before He knows because He knows the mind of God. He is God.

In conclusion, don’t let false doctrine sway you from this scriptural truth.  Talk to God as a loving father. You don’t need an intermediary to talk to God, you have direct access in the Name of Jesus Christ; our Mediator!

Old Testament II

Psalms 68

Psalm 68 is based in part on the Song of Deborah in Judges. 5. It speaks with great power of the glory of God. The first and last verses of the psalm (verse 1, 35) capture its essence. The title refers to it as both a “Psalm” and a “Song,” indicating its musical nature.

The structure of the psalm is as follows:

  1. a call for God to rise in judgement against the wicked (vv. 1–3);
  2. a call for the people of God to praise Him for His wonders and mercies (vv. 4–6);
  3. a review of the works of God on behalf of His people (vv. 7–14);
  4. a celebration of the city of God and His saving works (vv. 15–20);
  5. an anticipation of the final victory of God over all His enemies (vv. 21–27);
  6. an anticipation of the worship of God by the peoples of the earth (vv. 28–35).

68:1–3 Let God arise . . . flee before Him: The presence of the wicked on the earth is an assault on God’s holiness and a constant threat to the righteous. Only God’s mercy compels Him to delay His judgement (75:2). But when God awakes, His enemies will be scattered; they will disappear like smoke. let the righteous . . . rejoice exceedingly: The joy of the righteous will be great when there is an end to all evil (58:10).

If you are wicked, repent before the Judgement of God comes upon you.

Which brings us to this question, what is wickedness; to God & to man?

Without mincing words, Wickedness is sinfulness. The morality standard of man is different from God’s standard. All that's evil to man is likely sin, but what’s good to man could also be sin. For example, some people believe it’s good to take revenge, but God holds us to a higher standard (It is mine to avenge; I will repay -Deuteronomy 32:35). In due time their foot will slip; their day of disaster is near and their doom rushes upon them. The only true standard is God’s standard

(Righteousness guards the one whose way is blameless, But wickedness subverts the sinner. -Proverbs 13:6

Alas, sinful nation, People weighed down with iniquity, Offspring of evildoers, Sons who act corruptly! They have abandoned the Lord, They have despised the Holy One of Israel, They have turned away from Him. -Isaiah 1:4)

Therefore repent from your sin and turn to Jesus Christ.

New Testament

Acts 13:26-52

13:29 Now when they had fulfilled all that was written concerning Him, they took Him down from the tree and laid Him in a tomb

Do you know what’s written about your life? Do you know the prophecy about your life? Are you taking note of events in your life? Are you paying attention?

As a parent, did you take note of the prophecy about your child when he/she was born? Did you even tell the child when he/she was old enough to know or understand? Did you prepare the child for the prophecy? Joseph and Mary took Jesus with them to Jerusalem for the passover when he was young.

As a parent, are you “protecting” your child from fulfilling destiny? Imagine what Mary had to go through, watching Jesus suffer, but the angel of God already told Mary the kind of child Jesus is before He was born.

(30 Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. 32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. 33 And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.” -Luke 1:30-33)

Do you know what God is saying about your child? What plan does God have for your child? If God hasn't told you yet or you haven’t discern yet, the best way to know is ask God, and keep praying for your child and support God’s plan for your child.
