Verse 5 established as God’s children, descendant of Abraham, the terror of God is on whoever wants to do us harm.
Jacob has been walking with God but his households were with strange Gods.
You might be walking rightly with God but is your family also right with God ?
Do you need to evaluate your relationship with God as a family? It's important that you lead your family in the right way of God as you are in the right way of God.
Strange gods don't have to be spiritual idols, whatever has taken God’s place in our heart is an idol and it needs to go. You need to make God first in your life. God over money, God over everything!

Psalms 7, 8
Shiggaion of David, which he sang unto the LORD, concerning the words of Cush the Benjamite
David prayed that God should deliver him from his enemies because he didn’t commit any offence against them and that God’s glory and dignity be manifested in his life
To the chief Musician upon Gittith, A Psalm of David.
[{8:2} Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger]
God can use anybody for His Glory. It doesn’t matter if you are the least in the group or community.
[{8:4} What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
{8:9} O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!]
David shows a heart of gratitude to God. He realises man is nothing without God. It's a great privilege that God chose man over all his creations and above the angels; David appreciates God for that.
New Testament
Matthew 19:16 - 20:16
Although salvation looks impossible, the standard is very high and as humans we can't do it. We are right, that's why we need Jesus, that's why Jesus is our righteousness. And when you have Jesus, The Holy Spirit will teach you how to live a godly life.
[19:29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name's sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life]
As a christian, you are not giving all up to Jesus for nothing. You have a reward; Eternal life.
[19:30 But many who are first will be last, and the last first.
20:16 So the last will be first, and the first last. For many are called, but few chosen]
This often happens in church when there’s a new convert who is active, some old member becomes envious which shouldn’t be so, every christian should be happy there’s a new convert, a soul is won into heaven, there is joy in heaven (Luke 15:10), how come you are the only one who have problem with it, you should repent from this evil if you are in this category.
This is what the pharisee did, they believed they were already saved, they believed they knew all there is about God, they have been on earth before Jesus came, they watched Him grow, but they didn’t.
That’s why many who are first will be last and the last first. It doesn’t matter how long you have been in the church, you need to be graceful, submissive to God’s authority and teachable so that you will not be left out of God’s kingdom.

Make sure you are consistent with family devotion time to study the world of God and pray together
