Old Testament 1
Genesis 32 to 33:16

Jacob thanked God for His mercy that he is unworthy of, reminded God of His promises for him. Then made his request (vs. 10).

This is a healthy way to make a request.

Furthermore, Jacob wrestled with an angel and prevailed before the angel blessed him. Sometimes you need to wrestle to get your blessing.

Wrestle with that addiction, wrestle with that association, wrestle with that situation.

(El-elohe ; mighty one; God of Israel)

Old Testament 2
Psalms 1, 2, 3

We should shun ungodliness and flee from unrighteousness.

Everything we do should be godly

All we think of, what we say should be godly.

When we are godly there is a great reward and there are consequences of ungodliness.

(why do the heathen rage and imagine vain thing)

The world might be planning evil against you and hate you because of our faith, but the lord shall laugh because they can only plan but they can’t execute what they have planned because God will put them in derision.

A psalm of David when he fled from his son Absalom

David was pursued by Absalom and he sang praises to God for protecting him from all the evils around him.

As Christians, no matter the challenges that surround us. We should have the faith and trust in God that He is our shield. He is our protector.

David said he slept and woke up because God sustained him.

David knew while he was sleeping, although he had guards, anything could have happened. Absalom could have caught up with him or someone among David’s men will agree to kill him

So David didn’t take for granted the fact that he woke up every single day.

A lot of people take sleeping and waking up everyday as normal.

Our alarms didn’t wake us up. God did.

Let’s have the spirit of gratitude like David to God.

God delivered David from his enemies.

[Psalm 3:8 Salvation [belongeth] unto the LORD: thy blessing [is] upon thy people. Selah.]

Nobody can save you, only God can save you.

When you are in trouble or facing challenges, call on God.

New Testament
Matthew 18:15-35

[18:15 Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother.

18:22 Jesus said to him, I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.

18:35 So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses]

Jesus taught us conflict resolution.

How to deal with offense when someone offends you!

We need to forgive those who offend us so that God will forgive us.

Aside from forgiving because it frees you from a burden, or it’s healthy, forgive because God commands it and because He is also merciful unto you.

Peter asked Jesus how many times should we forgive those who offend us and Jesus said, seventy times by seven times.

Jesus gave the number because what are the odds of somebody offending you 70x7 times, and there is no way you would keep count even if someone could actually offend you that much. So Jesus was basically saying, always forgive.

[18:18 Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

18:19 Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.]

Also Jesus assured us that whatever we bound on earth and in heaven will be loosed on earth if we are in unity.

There’s strength in unity. There’s power in unity.

Remember the story of Tower of Babel (Genesis 11:1–9).

One of the reasons prayer doesn’t get answers in the church is because the heart of the congregation is not in agreement.

It doesn’t mean some of the congregation are thinking of evil, some maybe, but some are carried away by worry, anxiety, and pleasures of the world.

When we are in God’s presence, we should all be in one accord, forget about your problems, forget your challenges, in the presence of God there’s fullness of joy (Psalm 16:11).

Action Point

Think of God’s promises for you and start claiming it.

Have you been offended by someone, take the step of resolving it.

Quote

Our alarms didn’t wake us up. God did.

There’s strength and power in unity.

In Unity there is strength; We can move mountains when we're united and enjoy life.

Without unity we are victims. Stay united.
